Frequent questions about Hannah’s Home of South Florida – Who are we, and what is our Mission?

Q. Is Hannah’s Home of South Florida affiliated with any other ministry or is it a stand-alone ministry?
A. Hannah’s Home of South Florida is a stand-alone ministry. Carol Beresford has also founded a maternity home in Mentor, Ohio named Hannah’s Home. This home opened in 2002 and has had many success stories. These two homes operate as separate entities. They do, at times, share information which promotes and benefits their common ministries.

Q. What is the current status of Hannah’s Home of South Florida?
A. Hannah’s Home of South Florida is operates under the rules and regulations as a 501C(3) company with a very diverse but talented, energized and committed group of volunteers who are all committed to the ongoing ministry outreach to every single pregnant young woman in need of help, love and assistance.

Q. What is the focus of Hannah’s Home of South Florida and why?
A. In South Florida the focus is on the single mother who has a child/children two years of age or under and finds herself pregnant again. She is without housing, help, or hope. We have expanded our mission to meet the needs of these young women as well as those who are pregnant with their first child.

Our desire is to expose them to God’s love and His Word. He knows the plans He has for each one of them to give them a future and a hope. Our prayer is that they will allow Him to come into their lives and make the difference that only He can.

First Care and Care Net Crisis Pregnancy Centers in Florida say there is a desperate need for housing these young women and their children. In 2010, the Lifeline Home in Cape Coral, Florida reported turning away 975 young women because of lack of space.

Young women are living in their cars, under bridges, and many times with abusers. They need to be brought into a safe environment where they can experience God’s love and choose life for their baby. There are many wonderful organizations who provide assistance to these young women. There are few maternity homes in which they can stay.

Upon entering Hannah’s Home South Florida, the young women will immediately have counseling about whether they are in a position to care for this baby or whether the best choice would be to place the baby with a loving family of their choice. They will then work toward that end. In addition, they will be able to pursue an education, learn parenting skills, how to deal with their circumstances, nutrition, and many practical skills such as how to keep a checkbook, develop a budget, etc.

Q. How much will they have to pay?
A. Nothing - The young women come to Hannah’s Home of South Florida in need. HHSF is a 501C(3) organization. All costs will be covered by donations from individuals, organizations, churches, groups, and businesses.

Q. How can I help?

A. We are in need of prayer warriors who will pray for us daily. You can help by promoting this ministry with fundraisers and other means which will grant exposure to Hannah’s Home. We need people to catch the vision of this great ministry. These women and their babies are at a crossroads in their lives.

Funds are desperately needed. However, we can never under-estimate the value of volunteers to our ministry. We will be building this home; therefore, we are looking for individuals, organizations, businesses, churches, and groups to contribute their talents, skills, time, and funds to bring this dream to fruition.

Q. Can Hannah’s Home of South Florida come and share its vision for ministry with my church or organization?

A. It is our sincere desire to spread the word about Hannah’s Home South Florida to ensure that every single young lady that may find themselves in the position of a surprised pregnancy knows where they can turn!

Additionally as a new start-up mission we would love to present our plan and vision to see if God has laid it on the heart for others to get plugged into our outreach efforts to the entire South Florida community – and beyond!

So if there’s any way we can set-up a date to present the vision…the plan and the heart of Hannah’s Home South Florida to you, or a group of interested people, or to your church, your organization, or your neighborhood or community, please send us an email to hhsf@hannahshomesf.org or call us at 561-277-9823
